"From little spark may burst a mighty flame." ~ Dante Alighieri
This little light, at just 14, has taken his little spark (ballet) and has burst into that mighty flame. He has grown exceptionally in the last few years and will only continue to surpass any expectations anyone may have of him as he has recently been accepted into the Bolsoi Ballet Summer Intensive in both Italy and Moscow, accepting the invite to Italy!
This phenomenal kid has been the light of much of my inspiration, both he and his entire family. Many who know me know that their family and mine are the bestest of besties, but we are much more than best friends, we are family. <3
Being able to watch him dance has been such a gift. Maybe it is because he is family. Maybe it is because I have always wanted to dance (outside of the dance parties my children and I have in our home ;) ) and that watching others dance holds a special place in my soul, but I know without a doubt that the majority of the reason behind his dancing being a gift to others is because he is absolutely sensational at it. And dancing the summer away in the Bolsoi Ballet Summer Intensive in Italy is only going to further his skills.
I am so proud of you for so many reasons! Know that you are a spark of light to so many and that your gift of dance is lighting a flame in the souls of so many around you. I cannot wait to see all that you have learned when you come back. Never lose that spark!
What's a better way to preserve the joy inside a child than with photos of muddy puddle jumping?! Taking the photos I used for this flier was one of the greatest evenings I've had. I smiled so much my face hurt and photographing the organic jubilance the children radiated warmed the depths of my soul. Being able to freeze the deep belly laughs of a child is the greatest thing ever and there were many this evening.
On May 25th, Capturing Gaia will be offering Muddy Puddle pop up minis. These minis are sure to bring out the smiles and laughter! Bring your child's favorite rain boots or dress the whole family in their rain gear (don't forget an extra outfit for the ride back home) and let's capture some memories that will always be a favorite!
I can't wait to capture your child's (or family's) joy!
Capturing Gaia,
Megan
Freezing the action as an artist is lost in her art makes incredibly captivating photos. A potter at the wheel covered in clay, the deliberate strokes of a painter on the canvas, the glass expanding on the end of a glass blower's rod, sparks as the blacksmith's hammer hits the anvil-when that moment is captured that photo shows us magic is real and created at the hands of every artist.
May 26th and 27th, Capturing Gaia will be offering Dance pop up mini sessions open to dancers of every age and level and every style and genre. Some dancers may choose to come in the clothes they wear daily at the barre, some in a special costume, others in their fave street clothes with their pointes.
Resume photos that showcase your personality and talent can give a performer a winning edge at auditions. Perhaps you need a larger portfolio of stunning photos for your dance resume-contact me to discuss all of your ideas and to schedule a full session.
I can't wait to get together and capture the magic!
Capturing Gaia,
Megan
Growth and change.
Two things that I have done a lot of within the last few years. Two things that always go together. Two things that are both extremely exciting and at the same time, can weigh heavily on your shoulders manifesting as fear. I have been guilty of fearful feelings as I weighed the thoughts of the great name change. It has taken me some time to get here, but I am here and I decided that fear will not win and that with this change will come not only success, but a boost of confidence that will leak into all areas of my life.
I have wanted this name change almost since the day Under the Parasol opened. Both names were created in the exquisite mind of my best friend (She really does have one of the most brilliant minds I have ever known). When I first opened my business, it was a toss between Under the Parasol and Capturing Gaia. I went with Under the Parasol because it had a personal meaning that stemmed from a photo I took of my daughter sitting on the beach holding a lace parasol. The name Capturing Gaia always sat in the back of my mind though. It was captivating. It called to me as if I could see it glimmering in golden lights. A bold name that is one people would remember.
But ...
Who is Gaia? This is a question most people have. So, here is who she is and the reason for the name change.
Gaia - Simply put, in Greek mythology, Gaia was the Goddess of the Earth, Mother Nature. One of the primoridal elemental deities, she was the ancestral mother of life.
If you know me, you know that I love the mountains, I love hiking and being outdoors, flowers that bloom in the spring and leaves as they fall in autumn. I love soaking in the the warmth of the sun and listening to the rain fall on chilly days (not to mention that soul soothing smell a good rain gives off on a warm day - petrichor). I have a very serious case of wanderlust and I yearn to travel and see all that this fascinating world has to explore. It is safe to say ... I am pretty fond of this Earth and all that Mother Nature supplies us with.
When it comes to photography, my style is one that is ... natural ... real, unposed, and raw. You know, that of how nature really is, in all of its unpredictable and breathtaking beauty. So, it only makes sense that this just ... fits. This name, Capturing Gaia, encompasses all that I want to portray in my work and really, all that I love - life. I have had such tremendous growth in the last few years that, its now or never. So, now is the time and I am SO excited to make this change! I may be even more excited for all of my client's who will follow the flow of this change and come along with me. I am 110% positive that you will love this change and all of the creative and real moments we will have together.
While working as Under the Parasol Photography, I have experienced so much growth and I have learned so much. I have changed in so many ways and I know that this is going to be the most spectacular step I have ever made. I cannot wait to see where this change takes me and even more so, I cannot wait to capture the astounding moments in your life organically - no matter how big or small.
